At Christian Acuña it’s not just the final product that is certified, it is also each and the constituent ingredients. We use a minimum 95% certified ingredients in all our formulations. The remainder is derived from natural ingredients not yet officially certified.

Our ingredients have been given the stamp of approval by one of the seven accredited certifying bodies in Australia. The three primary ones we use are NASAA Certified Organic, Organic Food Chain and Australian Certified Organic. Recently we have incorporated ingredients found only in Tasmania. These are accredited by Tasmanian Organic-Dynamic Producers.

We only use broad-spectrum natural preservatives such as glycerin or other certified organic ingredients. Our products have natural fragrances. Most possess a plant-based scent such as mint, basil or citrus.

All our packaging is eco-friendly. No plastic! All orders are sent to you securely packaged with complementary gift-wrapping.

Products come in specially manufactured opaque glass, which blocks the complete spectrum of visible light. This protects the potency of the formulations and enhances their longevity. The thick glass phials act like a mini-fridge and help regulate the temperature of the product.

For many, sensitivity to skincare products can be a major problem. Christian Acuña products are filled with ingredients that naturally soothe the skin; Chamomile, Shea Butter and Aloe Vera feature heavily in our ingredient lists. Nevertheless, we recommend testing any new skincare product on a small patch of the body before applying.

To ensure safety and efficacy Christian Acuña formulations are put through a stringent sensitivity test prior to production. After the formula is approved by Christian it is sent to an independent regulatory body which checks pH levels and how it reacts with the dermis. Only once it has passed these tests is the go-ahead given for production.

Plant based cosmetics work in the same way that nutrients work in food. Our bodies will absorb what they require. Antioxidants, polyphenols, flavonoids and vitamins assist with skin maintenance and cellular regeneration and can act as free radical deterrents creating a sustainable impact upon the entire organism.

All ingredients are generally safe for all skin types, but some people may still have individual allergies to certain plant botanicals. The same holds true for any cosmetic or food ingredient. If you have sensitive skin or are prone to sensitisation, buy samples and test on the inside of your arm by placing a small amount of product on your arm, covering with elastoplast and leaving overnight. If there is no reaction, you are generally good to go!

We openly disclose our ingredients, so if there's any ingredient you think you may react to, you'll see it clearly listed in Latin (INCI) and common English on the ingredient panel.

We only use certified organic essential oils that have been chosen for their medicinal properties and therapeutic effect on the skin.

Some citrus oils are photosensitising when used in direct sunlight. Certain oils are best avoided during pregnancy, especially during the 1st trimester. We don't consider our blends to be contraindicated as they are used synergistically and in insufficient quantities. We use several plant based preservative systems dependent on the product. This includes small concentrations of natural plant based alcohol and extracts, native Australian extracts, vitamin E and natural antioxidants. Preservation is necessary and is there to protect the end user from harmful yeasts, moulds and bacteria.

All products have a guaranteed shelf-life of 6-12 months unopened. Products that are in jars should be used within 3 months of opening. Always use a spatula to dispense product and replace the cap after use and keep water tight. Products should be stored below 30 degrees Celsius.

All our products are manufactured in our custom built GMP factory in Sydney, Australia.

Cleansing is the first step to achieve great skin. If your skin is not sufficiently clean, dead skin cells and bacteria can cause the skin to become dull, flaky and prone to clogged pores and congestion. Regular cleansing with a pH balanced formula prepares the skin for the application and penetration of further products.

Serums are lightweight yet packed with specialised ingredients. Their molecular structure is smaller and designed to penetrate the deeper dermal layers of the skin to offer optimum results. They have a cosmeceutical effect that targets more than one concern. Moisturisers offer hydration and protection and assist to seal in the nutrients. They should contain a balanced concentration of emollients, including plant based oils that contain essential fatty acids to rejuvenate and repair the skin.

Moisturisers should be used after cleansing and toning to re-hydrate and deeply nourish the skin. They are formulated to create a protective barrier against oxidants and moisture loss. Apply after cleansing and toning. Note areas of dryness/oiliness on particular areas of the face. If the skin is producing sufficient oil in certain areas, then leave it be.
