Argireline is a unique peptide that inhibits the SNARE complex formation and catecholamine release and acts as a muscle relaxer. It both reduces the degree of existing facial wrinkles and in clinical trials has been demonstrated effective against their development. It is effective against the development of skin wrinkling by preventing muscle contraction via muscular relaxation, to tighten the skin and reduce the appearance of mimic wrinkles. These inhibitions confer anti-ageing activity on Argireline – they closely relate to the basic biochemical mechanisms of wrinkle formation. Clinical studies of 2 times a day treatment resulted with the severity of the wrinkles around the eyes decreasing up to 17% in 15 days and 27% in 30 days of treatment.
